This benefits our department in a number of ways. First,
since most of our seasonals are students it means they are now on board forty hours a week.
Second, there are no longer physical education. classes on the fields which offers us more
flexibility in maintenance scheduling.
• Maintenance activities during June have included:
♦ Mowing of parks and athletic fields.
I won't say we're caught up yet, but by the end of next week I think we will finally have the
grass under control.
♦ Daily ballfi eld preparation:
At this time we have game prepped nearly 300 fields. On an average we are game prepping
10 -12 fields per day. We are very pleased with our new tractor and groomer attachment. It
does a fine job on our infields.
♦ Weekly garbage pickup:
With our seasonals now on board, we should be able to keep up with garbage collection.
♦ Spring Fertilizer Application:
Applied fertilizer to approximately 40 acres of irrigated sports fields and park areas.
♦ Irrigation systems energizzed and repaired:
Have not completed repairs to all systems, but with the spring we are having who needs
irrigation.
• ♦ City Hall warming house:
Interior of building was painted along with benches and wall murals. (Girl Scout project)
♦ Park and trail sign installation.
