Popular playground activity - <br />Drip, Drip, Drop <br />Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation <br />Department <br />Program Highlights - <br />September Park Board Update <br />YOUTH <br />Summer Playground Program: 266 children were registered full -time in the Summer Playground Program <br />this year and 138 children participated in the program through our $3 daily rate option. <br />Options: 57 youth participated in the Options program this summer which ended on August 17. We received <br />many positive comments from parents and staff about the summer and many hope to return next summer. <br />Sensational Summer Adventures Day Camps: Our collaborative day camps with Anoka County went very <br />well this year. Sixteen 6th and 7th graders participated in our High Adventures camp and 34 - 1st through 3rd <br />graders participated in our Adventures camp. The camps consisted of field trips to a variety of educational <br />and recreational sites. We plan on offering both camps again next summer with the possible addition of a <br />camp for 4th and 5th graders. <br />Youth Instructional: Our fall programs will be starting soon. We are currently accepting registrations for <br />Dance, Floor Hockey Mini Camp, Soccer Mini Camp and Toss, Kick and Catch. A few classes have filled <br />already and many are close to being filled. <br />1111Fall Soccer: Fall soccer is a big kick with our participants. This year we have approximately 625 participants <br />on 46 teams. The number of participants in this program has stabilized. <br />Tackle Football: Approximately 350 children are participating in this new program. This is up from 219 <br />players last season when the program was operated by a local association. <br />CLUBS "WAFD" Trips: Two field trips are planned for the MEA break. "Fall Harvest Fun" (a trip to Afton <br />Apple Orchard for apple and pumpkin picking) and "Science Museum." <br />ADULT <br />Fall Softball: The season concluded in September. 26 teams participated in this five -week season. The <br />combined total of adult softball teams for summer and fall was 74. This is fewer teams than in the past. <br />2000 <br />"Fall Harvest Fun" <br />3- Player Basketball: 6 teams are currently participating in this program. This is lower <br />than past years, but still strong. <br />SPECIAL EVENTS <br />Family Turkey Shoot: This year's event will be held on Saturday, November 17. <br />We are currently "hunting" for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, <br />please call Liz at 651- 982 -2443. <br />ACTIVITIES GUIDE <br />WWe are currently working on our winter activities guide - due in homes the last week <br />in November.
