Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
October 30, 2001
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Discuss Brandywood Park Playground Vandalism
On October 27, a portion of the Brandywood playground equipment was set on fire. The fire
resulted in approximately $10,000 in damages. This consisted of the dragon, suspension bridge,
tot slide, horizontal ladder, deck, dome roof, and six timbers.
I am working with the Police Department to attempt to determine who started the fire. The
replacement equipment was ordered yesterday. Park Maintenance staff will be installing the new
equipment next spring. It appears that the city's insurance will cover the cost of the equipment
less a $500 deductible.
I will show some photos of the damaged playground equipment at Monday's Park Board
meeting.
RD: sw
sw /parkbrd /meeting information/Discuss Brandywood Playground Vandalism
•
