Lino Lakes Parks and Rerretcn Department <br />Program Hi9Pi9tyt-s — Octo{,er Park Etard Update <br />YOuTN <br />CLUBS "AD" Trips: CLUBS offered two field trips over the MEA break - Fall Harvest Fun and Science Museum. Forty -eight <br />children attended the Fall Harvest Fun field trip which included a trip to Afton Apple Orchard for pumpkin picking, apple <br />picking, a hayride and a corn maze. The Science Museum trip was cancelled due to lack of registrations. <br />Youth Instructional: Many of our fall youth instructional programs started the first week of this month. Soccer Mini Camp has <br />remained popular - one class filled and the other was close to filling. Toss, Kick and Catch has regained popularity - the class <br />has one more than the maximum registered. <br />fall Soccer: Fall Soccer is a big kick with participants. Approximately 650 participants are in this program - an increase from <br />last season. All games are played at Rice Lake Elementary and Centennial Middle School. If numbers continue to increase, we <br />may need to look at playing games at more facilities. <br />Fal! Tackle Football: The first season of this program has gone well. A survey has been sent out to all participants and we will be <br />having a wrap up meeting to better evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the season. <br />ADULT <br />Fall Softball: The season concluded in September. 24 teams participated in the five -week season - consistent with last season. We <br />1 that softball will continue to stagnate until teams see major improvements in our facilities. Building our athletic complex <br />ould be a major attraction for the softball enthusiast. <br />Basketball: 7 teams are registered this season for 3- Player Basketball and we are currently accepting registrations for the 5- Player <br />Basketball program. <br />SPECIAL EVENTS <br />f anily Turkey Shoot: The 4th Annual Family Turkey Shoot is just around the corner! This year's event will be held on Saturday, <br />November 17 from 10 -11:30 am at Centennial Middle School. 2001 sponsors: Lino Lakes Lions and Lino Lakes State Bank. <br />Special thanks to the 80 volunteers that will be helping at the event. <br />Breakfast with Santa: As of 10- 25 -01, 167 participants were <br />registered for this event. This is a slight decrease from last year's <br />total at this time, but we positive that the program will be filled <br />by the end of next month. <br />ACTIVES GUIDE <br />We are currently working on our Winter Activities Guide. <br />The guide will be mailed out to homes the Last week of November. <br />WINTER EMPLOYMENT <br />Se department is actively and aggressively pursuing employees to <br />our warminghouse and other winter position vacancies. <br />It is anticipated to have these positions filled by Thanksgiving. <br />Questions?
