• <br />• <br />Park Board Meeting - November 5, 2001 <br />Minutes <br />Bill asked if local area teams are using the rinks. Rick advised <br />local youth hockey groups are schedule mainly at Sunrise rink. <br />There is not as much use by groups as there has been in the past. <br />Chair Lindy added that local teams and organized groups also <br />utilize Birch Park. <br />Paul asked if there is any use by adult functions such as hockey or <br />broomball. Rick stated there is not much interest from adult <br />groups. Many organized activities are utilizing indoor facilities. <br />Pam asked if the rink hours will be extended over Christmas <br />vacation. Rick advised the hours will be extended and those days <br />are treated as weekend hours. <br />Paul Montain made a motion, seconded by Pats „elman, to accept the <br />2001 -2002 skating rinks hours and location presented by staff. <br />Motion passed. <br />DISCUSS BRANDYWOOD PARK PLAYGROUND V <br />Rick advised that on October 27, a p <br />playground equipment was set on fi <br />approximately $10,000 in damages. <br />suspension bridge, tot slide, h <br />and six timbers. <br />Rick stated he is working wi <br />determine who started the <br />ordered last week. There are no leads but the Police <br />Department is actively pursuing the case. <br />Michael asked if the vandalism took place during the day or night. <br />Rick stated the damage occurred at approximately 4:30am Saturday <br />morning. The damaged equipment has been removed. An accelerant <br />was used with a torch to start the fire. The fire was extensive <br />and there was a lot of damage. <br />Michael asked if more vandalism has occurred this year in general. <br />Rick stated there has been more this year than last year but it has <br />not been a continual problem. He noted this is the most <br />significant damage he has seen. <br />2 <br />
