Park Board Meeting - November 5, 2001 <br />Minutes <br />• RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick referred to the Program Highlights Flyer from October 2001. He <br />stated CLUBS offered two field trips over the MEA break - Fall <br />Harvest and Science Museum. The Science Museum was canceled due to <br />lack of registrations. <br />• <br />• <br />Many of the fall youth instructional programs started the first <br />week of this month. Soccer Mini Camp has remained popular - one <br />class filled and the other was close to filling. There were <br />approximately 650 participants in the Fall Soccer program and the <br />first season of Fall Tackle Football went very well. <br />Rick continued noting the adult Fall Softball season concluded in <br />September with 24 teams participating. The 4th Annual Turkey Shoot <br />will be held on Saturday, November 17 fro 0- 11:30am at Centennial <br />Middle School. As of today, 170 participa are registered for <br />Breakfast with Santa. <br />Rick added the Winter Activities Guide <br />week of November and the City is active y rsuing people to fill <br />winter position vacancies. <br />e mailed out the last <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick reviewed a memo from Mike <br />summarizes the maintenance high <br />October activities included m <br />well as soccer and football <br />Lino Park warming house ex <br />the athletic fields have <br />, Parks Supervisor, which <br />s for October 2001. Rick noted <br />of parks and athletic fields as <br />s maintenance activities. The <br />inting has been completed and <br />ilized and park areas irrigated. <br />Rick continued noting rodleaf weed control on the south half <br />of Marshan Park has bee completed as well as 12 system irrigation <br />blowouts and winterizati Tree and brush trimming along the <br />trails and playground inspection and repairs has also been <br />completed. <br />Rick added landscaping has been done at the Town Center and hockey <br />and pleasure rink maintenance has also been completed. Maintenance <br />staff also worked closed with Eagle Scout candidates on a <br />landscaping and entrance sign project at Behm's Park and Country <br />Lakes Park. <br />Pam inquired about the damaged floating stones crossbar at Arena <br />Acres Park. Rick stated the floating stones are free standing <br />structures that were damaged intentionally. <br />NEW BUSINESS: None <br />3 <br />
