Skating rinks officially opened on
Saturday, December 29, definitely later than normal, but what do you expect with record warmth
in November and an extremely mild first half of December?
Maintenance highlights for December included:
• Rink maintenance (primarily flooding).
• Preparing warming houses (cleaning and placing rubber flooring).
• Measuring new trail segments (currently over 16 miles).
• Repaired damaged hockey goals.
• Repaired utility trailer (installed new decking, repacked wheel bearings).
• Diseased tree removal at Sunrise Park.
• Installed orange safety fence around Rice Lake Estates Basketball Court.
• Confirmed spring 2002 bare root plant order.
• Began gathering information for 2002 tractor purchase.
• Repaired donated wood duck houses.
• Received/stored Brandywood playground replacement equipment (will install spring 2002).
• Assisted public works with snow plowing of streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and trails.
Those are December's major highlights.
Happy New Year!
sw /parkbrd/Mike /December 2001 Update.doc
