lCAok toC~
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
January 3, 2002
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Clearwater Creek Playground Review
Birch Park Trail Update
Clearwater Creek Playground Review
The playground bid proposals are currently on display in Meeting Room 2 at City Hall. If any
Park Board Members have not yet reviewed the proposals, I encourage you to do so prior to
leaving this evening.
Color selection for the playground equipment will be made on Wednesday, January 9 at 6pm, at
City Hall. Residents and Park Board Members are encouraged to attend.
Staff will be presenting a recommendation to the City Council at the January 14 Council
Meeting. It is anticipated to install the playground equipment in April -May.
Birch Park Trail Update
On December 19, 2001 the City Attorney received a proposal from the Whitcomb's attorney for
the city to acquire the trail easement for $6,000. The Whitcomb's have indicated that they have
been approached to sell their land for $15,000 per acre. They declined because of tax
implications.
If the city accepts this proposal to obtain a trail easement, the city can get the land dedication
when development occurs through the park dedication process.
The city attorney and staff concurs that the proposed agreement is acceptable. This item will be
discussed at an upcoming City Council Work Session. I will be happy to forward any comments
the Park Board may have.
sw /parkbrd/Meeting Information /Clearwater Creek Playground Review and Birch Park Trail Update.doc
