2002 Sweetheart 2 ance
C ono o/ abet Park and Ieecreation
2e artment
/9roparn jiiyhjiy4tJ -
7e4riitarj Part? &arct ?4c/aie
SPECIAL EVENTS
Sweetheart Dance: The first ever CLUBS (Centennial and Lino Lakes Unite with Blaine and Spring Lake Park)
Sweetheart Dance was held on Saturday, February 9 at Centennial Elementary School. One hundred thirty one
people registered for this adult /child event - a terrific turnout for the first year! Participants danced to music by
Kid's Dance, made a Valentine craft, had their photos taken under a balloon arch and enjoyed refreshments.
The response to the day was extremely positive and we've decided that the Sweetheart Dance will become an
annual event.
YOUTH
CLUBS: Eight children from Lino Lakes attended the CLUBS President's Day field trip to the Minneapolis
Planetarium, Fuddruckers and Cheapskate. This was our last field trip as CLUBS. We will now be CLUB due to
Spring Lake Park's secession from this cooperative programming group.
Instructional Programs: Our youth instructional programs are going smoothly this winter season. Most classes
will conclude the middle of next month and registration for spring session programs (which will be starting in
late March/early April) is underway.
ADULT
Softball: Registration is currently taking place for our Slowpitch Softball leagues that will begin in May.
Indoor Soccer: Registration is currently taking place for this program. We have reduced the number of teams
this season from 18 to 8 due to the need of the youth indoor soccer program for additional turf time.
WARMINGHOUSES
Warminghouses officially closed for the season on February 14.
We had hoped to keep them open until February 17, but the extremely
warm weather did not allow for this - as maintaining good ice
conditions was extremely difficult. A report will be included
with next month's update.
ACTIVITIES GUIDE
The Spring Activities Guide is completed and will be in homes the
last week of February, first week in March.
Questions? Please contact Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein
at 651- 982 -2440. Thank you.
2 anciny with their "Sweetl earta "at the
2002 Sweetheart .2 ance.
