Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation
Department
Program Highlights -
April Park Board Update
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Youth Instructional: Our spring session youth instructional programs began this month. We reached our
maximums in both classes of our Soccer Mini Camp program and for the first time in almost a year were able
to offer both classes of our Floor Hockey Mini Camp program. The popularity of our Monday evening Dance
classes at Centennial Elementary has dropped. For the last two seasons, we have had to cancel one class of
Preschool Dance. We believe the drop is due to the increase in popularity of our Tuesday evening classes at
Rice Lake Elementary.
CLUB "Spring Break ": Our spring break trips were successful. In all, a total of 140 youth participated in the
three trips that were conducted.
T -Ball: All of our upcoming T -ball classes are filled except for one daytime session and those held in July.
T -ball classes begin as early as next month.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Softball: Registration is at the same level as last summer season with a total of 38 teams.
SUMMER PROGRAMS
We are currently accepting registrations for many of our summer programs including Options, T -Ball, Golf,
Soccer Fundamentals and the Summer Playground Program. Some programs have classes that have
reached their maximums already. We are looking into the possibility of offering additional classes if there is
adequate space and facilities. Our Options program is near full - only three openings remain. The Summer
Playground Program continues to remain popular. We added two morning playground sessions this summer
and are receiving registrations almost daily for both the afternoon and morning sessions of this program.
REFERENDUM
The vote for "Referendum 2002" took place on Saturday, April 27.
The referendum was defeated.
EMPLOYMENT
We received an overwhelming number of applications this
spring and are currently interviewing applicants for a variety of
summer leader and instructor positions. We hope to have all
positions filled by mid -May.
ACTIVITIES GUIDE
We are currently working on our Summer Activities Guide. The
guide is scheduled to be in homes the last week of May.
Questions? Please contact Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein
at 651- 982 -2440.
The start of the Summer Playground
Program is just around the corner.
