Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
October 29, 2002
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor
SUBJECT: October Maintenance Update
Finally, football and soccer programs have come to an end, and the old saying "turf grows by the
inch, but is killed by the foot" has never been so true.
Many of our fields are in need of the three "R's ", renovation, rest, and recovery. If the weather
ever cooperates we are hoping to aerate, top dress, and overseed many of these fields yet this fall.
Maintenance activities during October have included:
♦ Mowing of all park areas. (We are almost done with our last mowing of the season!)
♦ Completed irrigation system blowouts.
♦ Winterizing and storing of summer equipment.
♦ Attended chain saw safety training.
♦ Ordered plant material for spring 2003. A number of young trees have been vandalized
(snapped off), replacements have been ordered.
♦ Hockey and pleasure rink repairs. (Leveling, repairing boards, gates, etc.)
♦ Removing soccer nets and goals.
♦ Clearwater Creek Park. (Contracted)
Rip plowing of site.
Gazebo work — painted frame and installed roof.
Site must dry out before remaining dirt work (tilling, regrading, seeding) can take place.
♦ Highland Meadows Park — Much has happened here, I am sure Rick will be updating you.
Those are the October highlights. More to come in November.
sw /parkbrd/Mike Hoffman/October 2002 Update.doc
