Lino Lakes Public Services Department 600 Town Center Parkway Lino Lakes, MN 55014 (651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439 • • 2002 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS Parks ♦ Highland Meadows Park - Parkland was transformed from an open field to very functional, attractive neighborhood park. Project included earthwork, importing 1,000 cubic yards topsoil, grading, installation of trails, irrigation, playcurb container, 1/2 court basketball court, and landscaping. Installation of playground equipment is scheduled for Saturday, April 26. ♦ Clearwater Creek Park - Playground equipment, gazebo, landscaping, and importing 1400 cubic yards of peat were completed. Final grading, paving the trails, and seeding will be done this spring. ♦ Timberwolf Trail - Located at the NW portion of the Pheasant Hills Development, provides a direct connection to the Regional Park Reserve Trail System. ♦ Birch Park Trail - Consisted of timber staircase and 315 feet of boardwalk. This important trail segment provides a direct connection to Birch Park for residents in the Trapper's Crossing area. Landscaping will be completed this Spring. ♦ Replaced vandalized playground equipment at Brandywood Park. Also installed drain tile from playground to wetland area. ♦ Replaced vandalized playground equipment at Woods of Baldwin Lake Park. ♦ Planted 110 bare root trees throughout parks system. Also, planted 40 dwarf bush honeysuckle and 45 perennials in planting beds in front of Police and ECFE. ♦ Removed 30 dead, dying, or hazardous trees from city parks and boulevards. Also, removed 35+ stumps from city parks. ♦ Restored edges of trail at Wenzel Farms trail where culvert was installed. ♦ Completed irrigation system, seeding, and sodding at Behm's Park. ♦ Re- roofed Lino Park building. ♦ Rebuilt City Hall Park Sign including new landscape block, fabric, and decorative mulch. ♦ Poured 3 concrete pads at Centennial Middle School for bleachers and 2 park bench pads at Wenzel Farms Park. ♦ Initiated buckthorn removal project at South Reshanau Lake Estates Park area (cut, chipped, and chemically treated stumps). Approximately 3/ of an acre. ♦ Assisted Environmental Coordinator with prairie burns in Clearwater Creek Development, Rice Lake Elementary School, Town Center, and Behm's Park. ♦ Well abandonment at Sunrise Park and Lino Park. ♦ Installed fifteen wood duck houses. Currently have 55 total boxes, 24 successful hatches in 2002. ♦ Site prepped and seeded native prairie grass along south side of Town Center Parkway. ♦ Conducted AWAIR, Right -To -Know Training. ♦ Staff attended chain saw safety and defensive driving training classes.
