Recreation <br />♦ Developed web page specifically for the Public Services Department. <br />♦ Special Events continues to shine: <br />First Year of Sweetheart Dance - 131 participants <br />Highest turnout to date at Family Turkey Shoot - 167 teams <br />Highest registration total to date for Breakfast with Santa - 221 participants <br />♦ Offered summer internship position to UW Stout student. <br />♦ High Adventures Day Camp — Second year offered, first year to reach maximum <br />enrollment. <br />♦ Refined and improved youth football (315 participants) and youth soccer (534 <br />participants) programs. <br />Public Works <br />♦ Fleet Division - Processed 374 work orders to repair vehicles and equipment. <br />♦ Removed and installed new shop hoist. <br />♦ Patched 52 streets by hand using 1,056 tons of asphalt mix. <br />♦ Applied 4,300 lbs of crack fill material. <br />♦ Repaired 12 failing catch basins. <br />♦ Completed removal of Marilyn Drive cul -de -sac including overlay street, matching <br />driveways to curb, sodding. <br />♦ Purchased painter so we can stripe parking lots, crosswalks, etc in- house. <br />♦ Assisted with Recycling Day. <br />♦ Installed culvert north of Main Street. <br />♦ Installed Power Factor Correction at Civic Complex that will significantly reduce our <br />• electric bills. <br />♦ Installed downspout piping, rocks at City Hall (contracted), installed straw mesh on <br />slope with rye seed, prairie grass. <br />♦ Removed dead trees and trimmed brush along roadways. <br />♦ Conducted annual snow plow safety seminar. <br />♦ Maintenance workers attended chain saw safety seminar. <br />Utilities <br />♦ Replaced pump and motor, installed variable frequency drive at Well #1. Rebuilt <br />check valve well, removed existing electrical gear, installed new electrical gear. <br />Upgrades on Well #1 almost doubled its former capacity. <br />♦ Installed new lift station controls and cabinet, reinstalled 2nd chopper pump at Lift <br />Station #4. <br />♦ Replaced pump and motor, installed variable frequency drive at Well #2. <br />♦ Replaced motor overload sensors at Lift Station #6. <br />♦ Spirit Hills lift station operational. <br />♦ Replaced switches, relays and wiring damaged by voltage surges. <br />♦ 4,139 Gopher One locates. <br />♦ 1,315 MIU installations. <br />♦ 192 water /sewer inspections. <br />♦ Rebuilt 17 hydrants and repaired 7 hydrants. <br />♦ Replaced 45 residential valves. <br />1/23/03 <br />• <br />
