Park Board Meeting - February 3, 2003 <br />Minutes <br />Pam stated completing lot 4 also would be very nice. She <br />inquired about the impact on the park use during construction. <br />Rick advised the work would have to be done on a weekend. <br />Pam stated she believes the City should complete all four lots <br />because that park is very heavily used. <br />Rick asked if the Park Board is comfortable with only having <br />$25,000 in undesignated funds. <br />Pam asked if the undesignated funds have ever been that low. <br />Rick stated the fund balance has never gone that low. <br />Bill stated there is the possibility that the funds for <br />Stoneybrook may be available also. In addition, the City may <br />have to back off from the full size basketball court. <br />Rick advised the Stoneybrook development has been approved. <br />Bill stated the City should complete all four of the lots while <br />the work is being done. <br />It was the consensus of the Park Board to change the amount of <br />proposed dollars for the Sunrise Park, Pave Parking lots, to <br />$65,0000 to include lot 4. <br />Michael O'Connor made a motion, seconded by Pam Taschuk, to <br />approve the Park Board 2003 Proposed Goals as amended. The <br />motion was approved. <br />Rick requested Chair Lindy determine what date he will be_ <br />available to present the 2003 Park Board Goals to the City <br />Council. <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick referred to the Program Highlights-Flyer from January 2003. <br />He noted the 4th Annual Snow Day was held on Saturday, January 25 <br />at Wargo Nature Center. Approximately 60 people participated in <br />this year's event - significantly less than previous years. <br />Staff believes the lack of snow and the extremely cold <br />temperatures of late greatly influenced the numbers this year. <br />The second annual CLUB Sweetheart Dance will be held on Saturday, <br />February 15 at Centennial Elementary School. Ninety participants <br />have registered so far for this event - the maximum is 200 <br />participants. <br />Forty -two youth attended the Grand Slam & Cheapskate field trip <br />on December 26. The December 27 trip to the MN History Museum & <br />The Grove was canceled due to low numbers. The trips are slowly <br />3 <br />
