•
•
•
City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
March 6, 2000
additional parkland. The Planning Department could be informed
that the Parks Department wants to expand the park area when
development to the north occurs.
Paul expressed concern regarding the number of houses in the area
with very little parkland. Parkland is also being lost due to
easements. There are no trail connections throughout the
development and traffic is an issue also.
Rick advised the developer did not initiate the revised plat.
City staff initiated the revisions. The Park Board can make a
recommendation regarding trail connections before the City
Council takes action.
Rick continued stating the park originally began as a 10 -acre
park in the comprehensive park and trails guide. It will be a
challenge to develop a park to accommodate the residents in the
service area now that it is so much smaller.
Pat stated the size of the park is not as big an issue as the
trail connections. Rick advised it will be very difficult to
eliminate Street E to offer a better trail connection.
Paul stated a trail connection would be useful to connect the
cul -de -sacs. A trail running parallel to Street A and Street E
would eliminate some traffic concerns.
Rick advised it is not unusual for residents to use streets to
access parks.
Pam noted Street A will be a very busy street.
Rick advised a safety study was conducted for County Road 14.
The study indicates that a full access off of Woodduck Trail will
be developed. The street alignment may change.
Jeff asked if street parking will be sufficient for this park.
Rick advised the parking will be an issue when the park is
designed. An informal ball field will probably now be out of the
question in this park.
Pat asked about the strip of land between the two ponds on two
areas of the plat. He suggested there may be room for trails
there.
2
1.
