The Regional Trail System Plan is part of this regional plan and will also be updated. In this regard, a few regional trail additions and changes are desired by Anoka County. One proposed regional trail addition is in Lino Lakes. The addition would be from Aqua Lane to Sunset Road basically following the existing city trail along Elm Street. This would provide a trail from the City of Centerville at LaMotte Park • through Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park to the city of Blaine north of I35W at Sunset Road. The City of Blaine is requesting a regional trail from Sunset Road west to Bunker Hills Regional Park. Anoka County has received a letter from the City of Blaine for this addition. • If the City of Lino Lakes agrees to the addition of the Elm Street trail being classified as regional, the possibility of a trail loop would exist from this trail to the proposed Lexington Avenue East Anoka County Regional Trail, north to the Main Street Central Anoka County Regional Trail, then east along Main Street to Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve just south of the Main Street bridge over 35W (see attached). It may be years before the actual trails are in place, but if these trail corridors are included in the updated regional trails plan, Metropolitan Council and state funding are a possibility. All signing would be provided by Anoka County as well as sign kiosks at key points along the trails. Anoka County would like to get city approval of this Elm Street trail as "regional" and add it to the revised regional trail plan. If you have question please call me at 763 - 767 -2865. Thank you.
