• <br />• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 13, 2000 <br />Council Member Dahl moved to adopt Resolution No. 00 - 24, as presented. Council Member <br />Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 00 — 24 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />Consider Computer/Internet Use Policy (3/4 Vote Required), Dan Tesch — Staff advised that as <br />the City gets closer to Internet access, it is important to have a policy in place that will protect the <br />security and integrity of the City's data. Just as important is a policy that will outline how the City <br />employees may use this new tool. <br />The City's computer system is designed to allow staff to better meet the needs of its residents. The <br />more proficient the research and computer skills of the employees, the better they can serve those <br />needs. This policy establishes guidelines for what is a permitted use of the system and the Internet, <br />and what is prohibited. <br />Council Member Carlson corrected the policy on page 1, paragraph 1, . * `'ermission for <br />personal use must be obtained from the employee's department direr .o <br />Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the Compute y F. ternet Use Policy, as <br />amended. Council Member Carlson seconded the motion f'on ied unanimously. <br />Authorize Hiring Finance Director (3/4 Vote ' uire Dan Tesch — Staff advised applicants for <br />the Finance Director position were recruit- ed by two (2) interview panels that <br />included all Finance Department emp • e ers of the senior management team and a <br />representative of the City's indep • rm. The consensus was to offer the position to Alan J. <br />Rolek. <br />Mr. Rolek has 21 year. mu, ° pal finance experience in the metro area and is currently president of <br />the Minnesota Govern e Officers Association. <br />The City Administrator s negotiated with Mr. Rolek a compensation package that includes a <br />starting annual salary of $68,000. His anticipated start date is April 3, 2000. <br />Staff recommended Council authorization to hire Mr. Rolek, contingent upon successful completion <br />of all applicable background checks. <br />Council Member Carlson moved to approve the hiring of Mr. Al Rolek as Finance Director, <br />contingent upon successful completion of all background checks. Council Member O'Donnell <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Consideration of Lino Lakes Community Service Award, Dan Tesch — Staff advised that several <br />years ago, the City began an award program referred to as the Mayor's Award.
