•
•
•
FEB -07 -2000 14:55
Mr. John Powell, P.E.
February 7, 2000
Page 3
bJl eJe eeb
5) York Bridge Concepts — This bridge proposal includes furnishing and installing a
pressure treated timber superstructure and substructure. The proposed bridge length is
37 -feet, single span, with a width of 6 -feet, 8 -feet and 10 -feet as requested in the request
for proposals. The bridge costs proposed are $20,240 for the 6 -foot width, $21,220 for
the 8 -foot width, and $22,184 for the 10-foot width. A 3 year warranty is indicated for
the materials in this proposal.
The City will be responsible for providing permitting with the Rice Creek Watershed
District, and erection of the bridge superstructure.
The proposal considers only 10 -foot long piles for the bridge substructures. We suspect
additional piling length will be required in order to properly found the bridge, at an
additional $25 per foot of piling installed. This could increase the cost of the
substructure $5,000 to $10,000. Additional costs may also be incurred for pile splices.
Engineer drawings, calculations or additional submittal items are at additional cost.
York Bridge Concepts states that they will work under the supervision of the owner.
We recommend the piling for the foundation of this bridge is creosote instead of CCA
as proposed. The creosote will provide assurances of longevity for the bridge
foundation under wet conditions.
6) Steadfast Bridges - This proposal is for the fabrication and delivery of the composite
tubular steel truss (with timber deck) bridge superstructure only and delivery. The
proposed bridge length is 37 -feet, single span, with a width of 6 -feet, 8 -feet and 10 -feet
as requested in the request for proposals. The bridge costs proposed are $12,592 for the
6 -foot width, $13,858 for the 8 -foot width, and $1 5,417 for the 10 -foot width. This
proposal does not include materials for the bridge substructure. A fifteen year warranty
is indicated for the materials in this proposal.
This proposal does not include material costs for the bridge substructure.
The City will be responsible for providing equipment to unload the bridge from the
delivery vehicle, design and construction of the bridge substructures, permitting with
the Rice Creek Watershed District, and erection of the bridge superstructure.
All of the bridge proposals, except the York Bridge, include self - weathering, steel truss
superstructure with timber decking. The York Bridge is a completely timber material bridge.
