.0 <br />• <br />Program Highlights Continued <br />ADULT <br />Five-Player- Basketball: The five - player basketball season is just about completed. We will be <br />beginning playoffs in February. After the playoffs, the winning team will represent our City in The <br />State Tournament. <br />Go -Rec Volleyball: Eight teams are registered in this league this season. Although this is consistent <br />with past registration, we will aggressively be pursuing additional teams in the future. <br />Fitness Glasses: Fitness class registration is consistent with past participation. The winter classes <br />are traditionally our largest classes. We will be offering a new fitness program in March - Cardio <br />Kick Boxing. We are excited about this new program offering. <br />Open Basketball: As expected, the average weekly number of participants is about 30. We may <br />pursue additional gym space in the future. <br />Open Volleyball: The attendance numbers are very positive. We are averaging close to 25 <br />participants per night. <br />SPECIAL EVENTS <br />SNOW DAY: Snow Day, a cooperative effort with Anoka County Department of Parks and <br />Recreation, was a big hit. Over 200 people attended this event on January 22 at Wargo Nature <br />Center. Many participants commented on how great it was to get outside and have fun in the snow. <br />Activities included: cross - country skiing, Norwegian kicksledding, snow shoeing, winter softball, <br />winter rope pull, crafts and skijoring demonstrations. Al activities, except skijoring, were "hands on" <br />- which the participants really enjoyed. <br />MISCELLANEOUS NOTES <br />The Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department is now seeking energetic, enthusiastic and <br />caring individuals to fill a variety of summer positions. If you know someone who fits these <br />qualifications, please have them call the Parks and Recreation Department at 651 -982 -2440 <br />for an application. <br />The Parks and Recreation Department is continually making necessary improvements to our <br />brochure.
