5.
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
December 23, 1999
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Request to Purchase Park Land Near Fox Trace Development
Attached is a petition from residents of the Fox Trace Subdivision requesting purchase of
property for development of a neighborhood park.
The land that is referred to is located adjacent to the south edge of the Fox Trace Subdivision.
The eastern 4.8 acres (Parcel #8) is owned by R- Properties. The western most property
comprises of 2.5 acres and is owned by Mr. Harold Lehman. Parcel No. 7 is a one -acre piece
owned by Mr. John Toben. Since the petition was received on December 21, I have not had an
opportunity to explore any possible land acquisition.
The Comprehensive Park Plan and Development Guide does not identify a neighborhood park in
this area. The designated neighborhood park for the Fox Trace development is Birchwood Acres
Park which is located %2 to 3/4 miles from the Fox Trace Development. Access is available via
paved trails. The typical service area for a neighborhood park is '/4 to 1/2 mile radius.
I have invited Mr. Tom Kallevig and Mr. Brett Bauer to attend the Park Board meeting.
sw /parkbrd/Request to Purchase Park Land Near Fox Trace Development.doc
