CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 8, 1999 <br />Mr. Kjolhaug distributed a color -coded map of the open space preservation plan for <br />Clearwater Creek 3rd Addition. The map depicts the revegitated area; greenway and park <br />area; storm water detention pond area; preserved and enhanced area; and the mitigation <br />area. <br />The goal is to: reseed all areas disturbed by project grading with native prairie seed <br />mixtures — wet or mesic, as appropriate; Kill existing weedy herbaceous plant <br />communities and replace them with native prairie seed mixture — wet or mesic, as <br />appropriate; Protect wooded areas and scattered significant trees. Remove invasive <br />shrubs to allow for recovery of native herbaceous communities; protect quality wetlands <br />with buffers and filter strips. Use signage to minimize dumping and mowing with in <br />wetland and buffers. Restore /supplement wetland hydrology when possible by blocking <br />ditches or outleting storm water ponds. Remove spoil piles when possible without <br />damaging tress or existing natural plant communities and remove trash when <br />encountered. Long -term management by city would include monitoring and enforcement. <br />Mr. Kjolhaug explained the plan includes revegetate storm water <br />prairie seed mixture.
