• <br />• <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 4, 1999 <br />Council expressed concern because the lease does not contain a penalty clause for early <br />cancellation. It was determined that the lease should contain a penalty if the lease is <br />broken. <br />Council directed Ms. Waite Smith to contact the City Attorney and have him determine <br />the legality of the lease and if a penalty clause can be added. She will then investigate the <br />City's options for a penalty clause. <br />This item was deleted from the May 10, 1999 Council agenda. Ms. Waite Smith will <br />bring the requested information to the next work session. <br />DISCUSS GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING BUDGET, LINDA WAITE SMITH <br />Council Member Lyden contacted the City Administrator by telephone and did not <br />indicate what he wanted included in the 2000 budget. Council was advised that staff has <br />not yet had a serious discussion about the budget. <br />Council expressed concern about maintaining the current level of se out raising <br />taxes. She indicated as many dollars as possible should be <br />put into the Road Reconstruction Fund. <br />Mayor Sullivan suggested funding for repairs of the current City Hall building be <br />designated. <br />After further discussion, Council decided to support the funding for technology for the <br />new city hall, bleacher replacement, $50,000 for the Road Reconstruction Fund, voting <br />machines, Fire Department generator, and the Mallard Lane Trail connection.
