An athletic complex will assist <br />our community in meeting the demands of the ever - growing athletic programs. <br />• <br />With the city's options becoming more limited each year, the opportunities for acquiring <br />land of this size and quality is diminishing and getting more expensive. Interest rates and <br />land prices are still affordable. The proposed site has favorable soil conditions, unlike <br />other areas of the city which would require underdrainage and /or soil amendments that <br />could easily range from $40,000 - $60,000 per field. <br />With Lino Lakes' recent population growth has come an increased need for new and <br />improved recreational facilities. Lino Lakes has been one of the fastest growing <br />communities in the Twin Cities area. The leisure and recreational opportunities along <br />with park development has not been able to keep up with this growth. Acquisition of <br />property for an athletic complex will expand the leisure and recreational opportunities for <br />the children and adults in our community. <br />9/28/99 <br />RD /athletic complex/park board green sheet <br />
