Lino Lakes Public Services Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
•
August 23, 1999
TO: Quail Ridge Residents
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Quail Ridge Boardwalk
Hello!
Due to safety concerns the city recently closed the boardwalk located near the Ruffed Grouse
Court cul -de -sac.
The city is exploring various options including renovating, replacing, removing, or closing the
boardwalk.
Renovating Boardwalk:
The rail system and numerous planks are in need of upgrading. Several support posts would
need to be adjusted.
Replacing Entire Boardwalk:
Simply renovating portions of the boardwalk may not be practical since other segments may
continue to fail. It may make more sense to replace the entire boardwalk using more current
standards, materials, and technology.
Removing Entire Boardwalk:
Currently this boardwalk segment does not serve a useful purpose. Certainly when Quail Ridge
Park is developed this boardwalk will serve a critical link to this future park. When the park is
developed, a new boardwalk system could be installed.
Closing the Boardwalk:
Currently the entrance to the boardwalk is barricaded. This option would require the least
amount of resources. When development of Quail Ridge Park occurs, we can more closely
analyze the condition of the boardwalk and determine whether the boardwalk system should be
upgraded or replaced.
If you have any thoughts regarding this issue please submit them by fax at 651 982 -2439. My
411 mailing address is 600 Town Center Parkway, Lino Lakes, MN 55014. I will notify you when
we determine the best course of action.
sw /rick/Quail Ridge Boardwalk.doc
