Or they may want to remove a tree to open a view <br />or create firewood etc. The City must decide how strict it wants to be with <br />individual property owners. Currently, the City tries to negotiate with <br />builders /owners to save trees but there is no compliance requirement or <br />punishment for removing trees.] <br />2. Release of security - The applicant shall notify the City when the planting has been <br />completed so the City can verify that tree planting is completed, identify any <br />discrepancies with the approved Tree Preservation Plan, and establish the planting <br />completion date. <br />a) The security shall be retained for at least one year after the date that the last <br />replacement tree has been planted. <br />b) Prior to release of the security, the City shall inspect the site to verify compliance <br />with the approved Tree Preservation Plan as described in Section VI - <br />Compliance and Enforcement. If non - compliance is found, the City may retain <br />security to cover the cost of bringing the project into compliance. <br />c) In no event shall the performance security be released before expiration of the <br />one -year plant warranty period. <br />V. GENERAL STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />A.
