• <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 EXECUTION FOR TURF GRASS - TYPE I MIXTURE <br />A. Examination: <br />1. Verify that prepared soil base is ready to receive the work of this Section. <br />2. If weeds have emerged prior to seeding operation apply Round Up herbicide as <br />per manufacturers instructions and remove. <br />B. Fertilizing: <br />1. Apply after smooth raking of topsoil. <br />2. Do not apply fertilizer at same time or with same machine as will be used to <br />apply seed. <br />3. Mix thoroughly into upper 3 to 4 inches of topsoil. <br />4. Lightly water to aid the dissipation of fertilizer. <br />C. Seeding: <br />1. Apply seed at a rate of 6 Ibs per 1000 s.f. evenly in three intersecting directions. <br />Apply 2 lbs. of per pass. Rake in lightly. <br />2. Do not seed areas in excess of that which can be mulched on same day. <br />3. Planting Season: May 15 to June 15 and August 15 to September 15. <br />4. Do not sow immediately following rain, when ground is too dry, or during windy <br />periods. <br />5. If weeds have emerged prior to seeding apply Round Up to weeds as per <br />manufacturers instructions and remove vegetative matter. <br />6. Apply seed with a Brillion slit seeder. <br />7. Immediately following seeding apply straw mulch at a rate of 1.5 tons \acre. <br />Maintain clear of shrubs and trees. Disc anchor mulch. <br />Lightly roll seeded and mulched area to achieve even, uniform surface. <br />Apply water with a fine spray immediately after each area has been mulched. <br />Saturate to 4 inches of soil. <br />8. If area to be seeded was treated with herbicide, seeding shall occur no less than <br />14 days after herbicide application. <br />3.02 EXECUTION FOR NATURAL GRASSES /FORBS - TYPE 11, 111, & IV SEED MIXTURES <br />A. Examination: <br />1. Verify that prepared soil base is ready to receive the work of this Section. <br />2. If weeds have emerged prior to seeding operation apply Round Up herbicide as <br />per manufacturers instructions and remove. <br />B. Fertilization: <br />1. No fertilizer shall be applied. <br />C. Soil Preparation: <br />1. Notify the Owner before beginning work of your schedule for beginning and completing <br />work. <br />2. After grading is complete and at least three weeks before installation of seed, chisel plow <br />or rip soil to a minimum depth of 18 ". <br />3. Immediately following chisel plowing or ripping of soil, disc, harrow, rotovate or <br />otherwise till soil to a minimum depth of 4" to create an even seedbed free of <br />Brauer and Associates, Ltd. <br />Project #02 -13 <br />
