• Two above - ground storage tanks;
• A storage areas for cars and other vehicles; and
• The site has been used as a sandblasting facility for over 25 years.
According to the ESA, the site does not have a high potential for any environmental hazards,
beta The assessment revealed no indications of recognized environmental conditions in
connection with the site.
10. Cover types. Estimate the acreage of the site with each of the following cover types before
and after development. If Before and After totals are not equal, explain why:
The Minnesota Land Cover Classification System (MLCCS) developed by the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was used to complete an inventory of land cover
types at the site. Figure 4 depicts the MLCCS cover types of the project area.
The MLCCS inventory data was analyzed and synthesized. The cover types were placed in
broader categories for comparing the pre- and post - development effects as depicted in Table 1
and illustrated in Figure 5.
Table 1
Land Cover Type Conversion
Cover Type
Before
After
Wetlands
6.5
6.5
Impervious Surfaces
22.7
30.0
Wooded/Forest
9.4
4.8
Urban/Suburban Landscaping
25.4
22.9
Other (ponding)
0
1.1
Total
65.3
653
Source: City of Lino Lakes, MNDNR, SEH, and Hartford Group.
The Lino Lakes Town Center Natural Resources Inventory Report, 1999, was also used to
identify existing cover types. A copy of the report is available for review at the Lino Lakes
City Hall.
11. Fish, wildlife and ecologically sensitive resources
a. Identify fish and wildlife resources and habitats on or near the site and describe how
they would be affected by the project. Describe any measures to be taken to minimize
or avoid impacts.
Because the proposed ' development is in the vicinity of the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes
Regional Park Reserve, there is a variety of wildlife in the study area due to the largely
undeveloped nature of the park and the diverse types of cover. The park contains some of the
most significant native wildlife habitat in the metropolitan area. Marshan Lake is located in
the park and is approximately 400 -feet south of the City Hall Complex. George Watch Lake is
also located in the park and is approximately 500 -feet east of the site. Wetlands, woodlands,
and grasslands provide habitat and cover for many common species found in the area.
Legacy at Woods Edge Development EAW DRAFT 9
Lino Lakes, MN
