OPEN MIKE <br />Bridgette Blesi of 3440 - 91st Court NE, Blaine, MN 55014 spoke as a <br />representative of the Blaine Natural Resource group. Her contact number is 763- <br />785- 0826. If anyone from the Environmental Board has any ideas on any project <br />that her group would like to work on together. <br />Teresa O'Connell from Lino Lakes said that it is great to have so many people <br />applying to the Environmental Board. <br />Open mike closed at 6:44 p.m. <br />5. ACTION ITEMS <br />A. Integra Homes — The Preserve, PUD, Conservation <br />Development/Preliminary Plat. <br />Mr. Asleson gave a brief summary of how the Environmental Board reviews <br />action items for the new members. <br />Mr. Asleson noted that this particular project has been in planning for about a year <br />now. Mr. Asleson then went on to give his staff report. <br />Brian Barossa and Jason Husveth, MS with Critical Connections Ecological <br />Services, Inc., are here representing Integra Homes. Jason has worked within the <br />City of Lino Lakes since 2000. Jason went over the Management Plan with the <br />Board. Jason has previously worked with Royal Oaks at the Foxborough site. <br />Mr. Husveth inventoried this site in detail and gave his assessment of resources on <br />the 52 1/2 acre property to the Board. <br />The Restoration and Management Plan describe species lists, as well as a timeline <br />and tasks provided to essentially guide us through the next five years. <br />Integra is looking at doing most of the work up front. Mr. Husveth recommends <br />this approach. Restoration projects take a lot of initial time. <br />Ms. DeHaven asked what constitutes a good cattail. Mr. Husveth said that there is <br />only one in the state. He said that most of the cattail marshes you see in the metro <br />area are invasive cattail monotypes. They have some habitat value but very little. <br />Good cattail marshes would be 15 to 20 percent cattail to provide opportunities <br />Ms. DeHaven asked if cattails easily adapt. Mr. Husveth said yes they do. <br />Ms. DeHaven asked if cattails are easily eradicated. Mr. Husveth said with <br />research prairies grass would be easier to uproot than cattails.
