ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING AUGUST 2, 2006 <br />Mr. Grochala stated that staff would continue to review and examine costs <br />regarding stormwater management and would put together addition public <br />information documents. <br />B. Blue Heron Days <br />Blue Heron Days is scheduled to take place on August 19. Ms. Brouillet and Ms. <br />Norman will design a sign for the cart. Mr. Asleson stated that the shirts have <br />been ordered for everyone. Ms. Bor will measure cart and email size to designers. <br />It was suggested that the sign for the parade should only have five words. <br />Ms. O'Dea suggested that everyone check the Blue Heron Day web site to find out <br />where the Environmental Board should meet and set up for the parade. <br />Mr. Asleson said he will bring the t -shirts and garbage bags. Ms. DeHaven will <br />bring a decorative bug for the float. <br />Mr. Asleson suggested tabling the garden club for now. He also suggested putting <br />an advertisement in the local paper for a specific time and date to determine <br />interest. <br />C. Volunteer Stream Monitoring Program <br />The Volunteer Stream Monitoring Program was discussed. This involves Friends <br />of the Mississippi Grant and covers Rice Creek, Hardwood Creek and Clearwater <br />Creek. There are volunteer training sessions regarding biologic monitoring of <br />creeks, general health and creek analysis. <br />D. Other Updates — Mike Grochala <br />Mr. Grochala gave background of the upcoming Visioning Process. He also <br />stated that the Comp Plan amendment processing updates will begin shortly after <br />the Visioning Process. Ms. Bor asked for the timeline for the Comp Plan. Mr. <br />Grochala stated it is planned to have it to the Met Council by the end of 2007. <br />E. Other Updates — Marty Asleson <br />Mr. Asleson gave updates on Emerald Ash Bor Disease and how it will affect the <br />Ash Trees in Minnesota. The disease started in Detroit where it came off the <br />pallets from ships on the waterway. If we want to save the Ash trees we need to <br />come up with a plan now. One way to save the trees is to start injecting them <br />immediately. However, there is no funding available. <br />7. ADJOURN <br />4 DRAFT MINUTES <br />
