•
•
ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING NOVEMBER 29, 2006
to many residents to fix their conservation easements by Mr. Asleson. Ms. O'Dea
would like a list of what has been done and where we are, that the board can
submit to the city council. Ms. Brouillet and Ms. Norman will prepare the list.
Ms. Bor stated that the Board should have a standard evaluation format. After the
board is finished with reviewing Stoneybrook, the board will come up with a
standard format. Mr. Asleson encouraged anyone to initiate a standard format.
C. EAW Discussion /Number of Responses
Deadline was November 22nd for responses. It will take awhile to put together the
responses. The agencies that had comments were EOR, Rice Creek Watershed, a
resident, Columbus Twp. Met Council, PCA and a few others. We will hopefully
look at the responses by our next meeting on December 20th. After the Board's
review, the document will go to council.
D. Environmental Board Members
The deadline for submissions of applications is December 4. Ms. Bor presented
her application to Ms. Hogstad, Community Development Secretary, to deliver to
the Administration Department November 30. Ms. Grundhofer will not
reapplying for her term on the Board unless there are not enough people to fill
vacancies.
E. Peltier Island Management Activities
Mr. Asleson stated that 4 raccoons and 15 opossums have been removed from the
island. Mr. Asleson is concerned about the Blue Heron's nesting trees that are
coming down. He stated we are going to loose most, if not all, of the Ash trees on
the island due to disease. There are a few Hackberry's coming up. We should
plan an Arbor Day project on the island. Mr. Asleson will talk to the county
regarding this.
There have been 32 Blue Herons who have fledged this year. Last year there were
two.
F. Earth Day
Earth Day will not be canceled as discussed at a previous meeting. Mr. Asleson
will share more information with the board when we are closer to the event. The
event is held the third weekend in April. This event is hosted at Wargo Nature
Center.
7. ADJOURN
4 DRAFT MINUTES
