ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING MAY 30, 2007 <br />Mr. Traylor asked what is being proposed next week to the council. Mr. <br />Studenski stated basically the same document and information that was presented <br />to the Environmental Board. <br />Ms. O'Dea stated one thing that should be presented to the public is that the City <br />has not had a water increase for 10 years. <br />Ms. Bor suggested members come up with ideas before the next board meeting. <br />B. Recycling Day: Mr. Asleson stated that recycling day was very successful <br />and that we met our goal for the 19th year. Ms. Hogstad will send Walter's <br />Recycling a thank you for their donation. Ms. Bor will look into putting a thank <br />you in the paper. <br />C. Updates <br />Minnesota Environmental Initiatives Award: Mr. Grochala announced the City of <br />Lino Lakes is very happy and pleased to accept the award presented by the MN <br />Environmental Initiative Bloomberg & Podpeskar LLP and Great River Energy <br />for the Lino Lakes I -35E Corridor AUAR Green Building & Development. There <br />were press releases in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Star and Tribune, Quad Press <br />and will be in the Citizen. Kudos to all. <br />Solid Waste Award: Anoka County awarded the City of Lino Lakes a certificate <br />stating we have consistently met our goals for recycling for the past 19 years. <br />Heron Update: Mr. Asleson reported that the Blue Heron's are doing great this <br />year. Number of active trees detected: 24, number of active nests detected: 36 <br />and number of eggs found (chicks): 27 <br />Blue Heron Day Parade: It was noted that Ms. Hogstad will fill out the <br />application and mail it in for the 2007 Blue Heron Day Parade. The date of the <br />parade is Saturday, August 18. <br />D. School Activities <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated Rice Lake Elementary has a nature section on their web <br />site as well as a section on their Osprey pole. Ms. Andrzejewski asked Mr. <br />Asleson if there was a way to connect schools that have similar goals and <br />purposes. Mr. Asleson stated he would try to find a way to connect these projects. <br />7.
