Memorandum
DATE: February 3, 1999
TO: Mary Kay Wyland
FROM: John Powell, City Engineer
RE: Lino Lakes Elementary School
I have reviewed the preliminary plans for the referenced project which were
prepared by John Oliver & Associates, Inc., dated November 24, 1998, and are
unsigned. My comments are as follows:
1. The City proposes to have utility service available for the school district by
September 1, 1999.
2. The details of the septic tank and sanitary sewer abandonment are not
provided. Filling abandoned pipes is recommended to minimize the
possibility of future settlements due to collapsed pipes.
3. The utility plan indicates "by others" in various notes. I assume that all of
the utility work on site will be under the same contract as the building
addition. The City's sanitary sewer and water stubs will terminate at the
property line.
4. The proposed invert elevation of the 12 -inch HDPE apron west of the
addition is 912.18 whereas the proposed contour at the outlet has an
elevation shown of 913.0.
5. The City has obtained temporary easements near the east and west
driveways to be used during the installation of utility stubs. These
easements are not shown.
6. The west water connection should extend to the building instead of
terminating at a hydrant such that the facility can be fed from one City
water stub or the other.
1189 Main Street • Lino Lakes, Minnesota • 55014
Phone/TDD: 651 -464 -5562 • Fax: 651 - 464 -4568
