STAFF ORIGINATOR:
C. C. MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
BACKGROUND
AGENDA ITEM 6 I
Jeff Smyser
April 26, 1999
PUBLIC HEARING / T'
Amending Zoning Ordinance to Allow Private
Clubs/Lodges as Conditional Uses in General Business
Districts
The Zoning: Ordinance does not allow a club/lodge with a liquor license in any of the
commercial zoning districts. In previous discussion, City Council and staff agreed there
should be a commercial zoning district that allows a club that serves liquor. (Note that
the VFW is grandfathered in as a CUP on its current site in the CB district.) At the April
14 meeting, P & Z recommended approval of the attached ordinance.
The draft ordinance simply adds private clubs and lodges as a conditional use to the GB
and CB districts. The proposed conditions are copied directly from the conditions for
clubs/lodges currently listed in the LB district.
This is the first reading of the ordinance to amend the Zoning Ordinance.
OPTIONS
1. Approve attached ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance to add clubs as
conditional uses to the General Business and Central Business zoning districts.
2. Return to staff for additional research.
RECOMMENDATION
Option 1.
