Services Director <br />DATE: June 8, 1999 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Request to Approve Hiring of Building <br />Maintenance Technician <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Applications for the Building Maintenance Technician position were accepted through May 21, <br />1999. Fifteen applications were submitted. <br />All applications were rated on criteria such as vocational training in mechanical, electrical, and <br />plumbing, experience in record keeping, experience in custodial/building maintenance, and <br />certifications such as possessing a boilers license. The top seven candidates were given <br />interviews on June 2 - 3 by Tom DeWolfe and myself. <br />I am recommending that Mr. Wayne Meyer be considered for the Building Maintenance <br />Technician position. Mr. Meyer has 12 years experience in building maintenance positions. Mr. <br />Meyer also has an engineers license for boiler operation and numerous certificates including <br />boiler /water management, building/electrical maintenance, hazardous waste, and home <br />inspections. Mr. Meyer has served in various capacities in community services such as Habitat <br />for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, the Jay -C's of Minnesota, Blaine Band Boosters, and <br />Blaine Soccer Club. <br />The position provides for a salary of $14.50/hour plus benefits. This position would be eligible <br />for membership in the 49er's Union. Mr. Meyer is available to begin work on June 29, 1999. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve Mr. Meyer as Building Maintenance Technician. <br />2.
