Motions on Issues
Environmental Board Meeting
May 28th, 1999
Lino Lakes City Hall
6:30 PM
The following motions were passed at the Environmental Board Meeting of May 28"'
American Legion
The Environmental Board made the following recommendations concerning the
American Legion at the site of the old Police Station:
1. The Environmental Board recommended that city staff examine the parking
requirements for the site, limit impervious surface as much as practical, and explore
the possibility of using green parking on part of the site, particularly on the back side
of the site. In determining impervious surface limits as required by city ordinance,
staff should include all future roadways on the property in impervious surface
calculations.
2. Trees removed should be replaced on a per diameter inch removed basis, with species
to be replanted approved by city staff. City staff should explore the possibility of
banking tree replacement in the business district if total diameter replacement cannot
be achieved on this building site alone.
3. City staff should consult with the Rice Creek Watershed District to ensure that storm
water run -off can be infiltrated in on this parcel. Staff should also explore a joint
infiltration unit that would serve the entire city -owned site.
4. Landscape buffering should be provided for the residential area behind the site.
5. The site should be landscaped with native materials, particularly around any
infiltration basins.
6. The landscape should include an extension of the aspen on the back side of the Fire
Station to the area between the old Police Station and the Fire Station.
7. Lighting should limit light spillage skyward, and should be directed downward.
•
