1997 ANNUAL REVIEW OF VISION 20/20 ACHIEVEMENTS
Compiled by the Vision 20/20 Citizens Advisory Group
January 20, 1998
EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW
The 20/20 Vision project, initiated by the City Council, brought together Lino Lakes residents to
create a community vision. The Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) was established to monitor
implementation of the recommendations which developed from that project. Throughout the
course of 1997, the CAG met with city staff from the departments of finance, public safety,
economic development, engineering, planning, and city administration. Positive results in
achieving parts of the 20/20 Vision have taken place. We would like to acknowledge those
successes summarily, as well as point out recommendations for continuing attention in 1998.
There must be ongoing efforts and vigilant support of the 20/20 Vision by the entire community,
city staff, and Council to further reach the vision set forth in 1995. We would like to thank all
citizens and city staff who have contributed toward our 20/20 Vision and particularly the
department heads and Dan Tesch, who spent long evenings with us.
Each of the five individual summaries contained herein was initially written by CAG members
particularly attuned to that aspect of our city. Their comments were then reviewed by the entire
CAG to ensure agreement and alignment with the overall intent of the 20/20 Vision. This
document represents our collaborated consensus regarding progress toward the vision.
The CAG feels communication is one of the main keys to progressing toward the 20/20 Vision,
and this is a recurring theme in all the ensuing summaries. Good changes have been noted over the
past year with the quantity of communication channels continuing to increase. Enhancement of
the quality of communication should be the ongoing focus, with citizens' education derived from
engaging discussions and interactive contributions.
Present CAG members include:
Lyle Bye Donna Carlson Paul Montain
Tim Rehbine Chris LeMire Laura Wolf
Mark Lindblad J.P. Houchins (ad hoc)
Diana Turner
Kim Sullivan
