COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT SUMMARY
Construction of the Lino Lakes Town Center/Village has started with the phase one focus on
public oriented service projects. This will provide the city with a defined business center near the
freeway interchange, an architectural example for quality and style of building design, a community
center for both activity and sense of identity, an environmentally sensitive urban development, and
planned area where residents may live and work.
Progress has been made with expansion of current businesses and additional new light industrial
and commercial projects. These changes increase tax revenue and job opportunities for residents
of Lino Lakes.
Recommendations:
Continue to work toward achieving a favorable balance between commercial/
industrial vs. residential development and monitoring and/or changing zoning and
land usage to accomplish this balance.
• Incorporate results of the transportation plan (from Comprehensive Plan) to define
future transportation needs and roadway construction.
• Review and create more defined and extensive requirements for business buffers,
landscape and architectural criteria.
• Improve communication by delivering information in understandable terminology,
city's planning and decision processes, but also allowing the citizens a more
interactive role in that process.
4
