EDUCATION SUMMARY
Notable items occurred which coordinate well with the education 20/20 recommendations.
However, the jurisdictional realities of having three separate school districts within our city limits
make it difficult for Lino Lakes staff and/or Council to be assertive within the school districts.
This past year, progress was made with increased cross - functional use of school resources which
allows the city and the school districts to maximize use of the citizens' tax dollars. Examples of the
cross - functional uses were: Lino Lakes and the Centennial Middle School entered into a
recreational use agreement, an Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) center will be built, and
a Youth Resource Officer was stationed at Centennial Middle School.
Recommendations:
Establish a city education coordinator (volunteer) who would be a liaison between
the city and the three school districts. This position is key to furthering city wide
education goals and improving communication.
5
