PARKS SUMMARY
There were improvements made in communication via the city newsletter and Quad Press articles
regarding various ongoing projects of the Parks department and providing information for citizens
interested in volunteer work.
The City has been actively pursuing a partnership with the YMCA in developing a recreational
center in the Lino Lakes Town Center/Village which would provide a gathering place for the
residents.
Anoka County Park system has advanced the development date of the trails within the Rice Creek
Regional Park to 1999 which will help connect Lino Lakes trails and provide access to different
neighborhoods of Lino Lakes.
The City has approved a bond referendum for funding trails and parks which the residents will vote
upon in 1998. Parks and trails slowly continue to be developed and completed in the city with
existing funding.
Recommendation:
Develop a map for residents detailing the location of trails and parks within the city.
• Increase funding from the City's capital and general funds for development and
maintenance of the parks and trails.
• Continue to pursue funds from other sources such as bond referendum, user fees,
and grants.
• Develop a 5 -year plan for anticipated park/trail needs and additional staff needed for
the new growth.
6
