6. The proposed use shall show sufficient landscaping to screen undesirable features and to enhance the
appearance of the development.
7. The proposed use shall preserve the objectives of this ordinance and shall be consistent with policy and plan
recommendations of the comprehensive plan.
The structure is planned as a storage facility for the education materials used at
the Heritage Lab. The Heritage Lab provides educational programs on Native
American Indians, the early settlers, voyages, and the like to school age children
and adults. Parking is existing to serve the facility as shown on the attached site
plan. The Building Official has inspected the building to be moved and found it
to be structurally sound. The wood frame structure has a split log exterior similar
to an old fashioned log cabin so it should blend well with this particular area of
the park.
Staff would recommend approval of this site plan review to move a structure onto
the park site with the following conditions:
1. Proper building permits be obtained prior to construct and the building be located
according to the State UBC.
2. A fire extinguisher be located within the structure.
3. Trash receptacles be located within the structure if necessary.
4. The building setbacks conform to the City's Shoreland Management Ordinance as
indicated on the site plan (150' from the OHW).
5. Screening and landscaping be provided consistent with the area and approved by the
City Forester.
6. The CPTED Officer review the structure for proper security prior to issuance of any
building permits.
7. Other conditions as imposed by the Board.
The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of this site plan review
at their March 11, 1998 meeting with the conditions outlined above.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve site plan review with conditions outlined above.
2. Return to staff for further consideration.
RECOMMENDATION:
Option 1
