AGENDA ITEM 7A STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens, Public Works Director /City Engineer DATE: July 13, 1998 TOPIC: Resolution No. 98 -102, Order Improvement and Preparation of Plans and Specifications - Apollo Drive, Phase 3 BACKGROUND: Staff is requesting Council approval to order the improvement and preparation of plans and specifications for the extension of Apollo Drive from its current terminus at Lilac Street to Lake Drive. The public hearing for this project was held at the June 22, 1998 Council Meeting. Staff and the City's consulting engineer presented the feasibility report at the hearing and property owners were given an opportunity to speak in favor or against project. One property owner raised questions regarding the acquisition of her property. The City Attorney and City Engineer spoke with her after the meeting to discuss the acquisition process and relocating her family to a new home. The construction of Apollo Drive from Sunset Road to Lake Drive was first discussed in 1990. The portion of Apollo Drive from Sunset Road to Lilac Stree is complete and the final phase was initiated recently with the public hearing being held at the June 22, 1998 Council Meeting. Attached with this report is information presented at the public hearing including project summary, including description of the regional storm water pond, estimated project schedule, project costs and financing. OPTIONS; 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 98 -102 ordering the improvement and preparation of plans and specifications which includes constructing the northwest pond option for Apollo Drive and the two development projects. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends to Council to adopt Resolution Number 98 -102.
