Project Description
The proposed improvements include extending Apollo Drive from its current
terminus with Lilac Street northerly approximately 1,400 feet to Lake Drive (refer
to attached exhibits). Apollo Drive is proposed to be constructed to the same
section as existing Apollo Drive, 52 feet wide and 10 ton axle load. Due to the
close proximity of the proposed Apollo Drive /Lake Drive intersection to the
existing Lilac Street/Lake Drive intersection and the resulting safety concerns, it
is proposed to eliminate the existing Lilac Street/Lake Drive intersection.
A regional storm sewer system is included with this project providing storm water
runoff treatment for Apollo Drive and surrounding properties. The feasibility
report outlined two options for the pond location. The recommended option is
the northwest pond location as it acts as a buffer to adjoining residential land -
uses, uses less developable frontage along Apollo Drive and requires Tess area
to construct.
The Feasibility Report outlined two options on financing the construction of the
storm water treatment pond. The preferred option is to construct the pond to
handle the Apollo Drive storm water runoff and runoff from the proposed
Lakeland National Bank and convenience store sites at this time. As properties
develop in the area it will then be the responsibility of the developer to expand
the pond to accommodate the additional runoff. The easement to accommodate
the ultimate pond size is planned to be purchased at this time. The other option
involves constructing the entire pond at this time and assessing the properties
within the drainage area. The preferred option is more flexible and will provide a
pond that is sized properly as compared to over - designing the pond at this time
to accommodate future development. It is also proposed to pursue a land swap
with the adjoining property owner to obtain the necessary land to construct the
pond (refer to the attached drainage plan).
