AGENDA ITEM 3 <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Brian Wessel <br />DATE: 7/27/98 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No 98-03 authorizing <br />eminent domain proceedings, Highway 49/23 project <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Staff is requesting Council action to authorize the use of eminent domain to <br />obtain certain property located at the southeast quadrant of the intersection of <br />Lake Drive and Hodgson Road (refer to attached map). The city attorney and <br />staff has discussed this issue previously with the Council <br />The purpose for obtaining the parcels is for economic development purposes. <br />Staff has been negotiating with the property owner regarding special <br />assessments to the parcel. The city is requesting to obtain the parcel and <br />combine it with excess Anoka County right of way for development purposes. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve resolution No. 98 -03 authorizing the acquisition of property through <br />eminent domain proceedings. <br />2. Return to staff for further consideration <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option 1 <br />
