AGENDA ITEM 7C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens City Engineer/Public Works Director <br />DATE: July 27, 1998 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Approving Change Order No 1, Lakes Addition <br />Street Reconstruction <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Staff is requesting Council approval of Change Order No 1 for the Lakes <br />Addition Street Reconstruction Project. The change order reflects additional <br />work to add drain hole plugs in each hydrant per Minnesota Department of <br />Health requirements. <br />The contractor for the project has indicated that the additional cost to modify the <br />hydrants is $75 per hydrant. There are a total of 24 hydrants resulting in an <br />increase of $1,800 to the contract. Watermain work associated with this project <br />is funded by the Area and Unit Fund and it is proposed that this change order be <br />funded by the Area. and Unit Fund. <br />The project cost is summarized as follows: <br />Original Contract Amount $1,787,810.00 <br />Change Order No. 1 $ 1.800.00 <br />Revised Contract Amount $1,789,610.00 <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for additional review. <br />2. Adopt a motion not accepting Change Order No 1. <br />3. Adopt a motion accepting Change Order No 1 and instructing City Engineer <br />to sign said Change Order for the Lakes Addition Street Reconstruction <br />Project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council adopt a motion approving Change Order No. 1 <br />for the Lakes Addition Street Reconstruction Project. <br />
