COUNCIL MINUTES July 8, 1996 <br />Consideration of Charter Commission Update, Randy Schumacher - Mr. Schumacher <br />recapped a draft letter from the Council to the Charter Commission regarding road reconstruction <br />issues. <br />Mayor Landers stated that he spoke to Ms. Joyce Scharpen and asked for her comments <br />regarding the letter. He stated that Ms. Scharpen spoke with Mr. Ron Solfest. Mr. Solfest <br />indicated he was under the impression that the letter was to be written by Mr. Corson with input <br />from Mr. Dunn. <br />Council Member Bergeson stated that it was agreed to ask some of the questions on a citizens <br />survey and react to the answers. He noted the City could be put in a position where the City does <br />not get direction from the survey. He suggested a line be added to the letter stating "Council will <br />continue to work on this issue ". He stated the issue should be kept on the agenda. <br />It was the consensus of Council that Mr. Schumacher will add language and confer with Council <br />Member Bergeson. <br />Acknowledgment of Letter From 20/20 - Council Member Bergeson moved to accept the letter <br />from 20/20 and discuss specific action at the next Council work session. Council Member <br />Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Reconsideration of Off -Sale Liquor License for Steve J. Arhip, Jr., 7860 Lake Drive, Lino <br />Lakes, Minnesota, Marilyn Anderson - This item was tabled until July 22, 1996. <br />Proclamation, National Night Out 1996, Randy Schumacher - Mr. Schumacher explained <br />that National Night Out was designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate <br />support and participation in local anti -crime. efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police - <br />community relations, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are <br />organized and fighting back. On National Night Out, residents lock their doors, turn on their <br />outside lights from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and get together with neighborhood watch groups. <br />Mr. Schumacher stated that in previous years, the Council was invited to ride with Police <br />Officers as they visit each neighborhood group. The Council is invited to ride with the Police <br />Officers again this year. If the Council or any resident would like more information about this <br />event, please call the Lino Lakes Police Department at 780 -0605, and ask for CSO Jeanie <br />Kenow. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to adopt a motion Proclaiming August, 6, 1996, as National <br />Night Out. Council Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Confirm Annual Budget Meeting for Thursday, August 8, 1996, 9:00 A.M., Tautges, <br />Redpath & Co., LTD, Randy Schumacher - The Annual Budget Meeting for Thursday, <br />August 8, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at Tautges, Redpath & Co., LTD, was confirmed. <br />13 <br />
