Metropolitan Council
Working for the Region, Planning for the Future
•
•
•
December 11, 1998
Jeff Smyser
City Planner
City of Lino Lakes
1189 Main Street
Lino Lakes MN 55014
Dear Mr. Smyser:
Thank you for your letter of December 10, 1998, concerning the city's desire to re-
examine and adjust downward its LCA goal for rental housing units.
Staff will advise the Metropolitan Council of the city's proposal to reduce its goal for
rental housing units to 15% of the city's housing units through 2010, and this information
will be a part of the public hearing process in January on goals for newly participating
cities and renegotiated goals.
Staff will advise the Council that Lino Lakes wishes to reduce this rental housing goal
because of a very weak rental housing market in the community and the city's desire to
have goals that can realistically be achieved.
As you know, following the 2000 Census, the Council is very likely to revise all LCA
benchmarks and renegotiate goals with most communities when more current and
accurate rental and other housing data is available.
Please call me if yo ave any questions.
Si
uy D.
