• <br />• <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />BACKGROUND <br />AGENDA ITEM 1L <br />Kent Strege, Chief of Police <br />January 24, 2011 <br />Approving Resolution No. 11 -10, authorizing the <br />Lino Lakes Police Department to <br />participate in the Highway Enforcement of <br />Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) Project <br />Simple Majority <br />The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will be sponsoring Highway Enforcement <br />of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) projects from October 1, 2010 through September 30, <br />2011. During these enforcement projects officers from agencies with jurisdictions that <br />include the 35E / 35W Interstate work shifts to enforce the laws associated with <br />aggressive driving on the freeway. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety <br />reimburses the participating agencies for the officer's time while working these <br />projects. The goal of the project is to reduce accidents, injuries and deaths. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 11 -10, authorizing the Lino Lakes Police Department <br />to participate in the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) Project <br />2. Return to staff for further consideration. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option 1. <br />
