Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 11, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 -54, Accepting Bids and Awarding Construction <br />Contract, Well No. 5 Drilling <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10 :00 a.m. on March 29, 2005. The <br />results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award <br />a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />EH Renner & Sons $158,825.00 <br />Bergerson - Caswell $194,500.00 <br />Engineer's Estimate $174,000.00 <br />The low bid is approximately 9% below the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy <br />of the complete bid tabulation is attached. This 9% overage falls within the 10% <br />contingency budgeted for the project. <br />The final completion date for this project is August 19, 2005. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 05 -54, Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction <br />Contract to EH Renner & Sons for Well No. 5. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution No. 05 -54. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 05 -54. <br />
