• <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING DATE: June 27, 2005 <br />TOPIC: <br />Consideration of Resolutions No. 05 -81 <br />through 05 -84 Supporting Applications for <br />Federal Funding <br />ACTION REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) to the Metropolitan Council is soliciting <br />proposals for 2009 and 2010 projects to use federal transportation funds. Both Anoka <br />County and the City of Centerville have requested support from the City of Lino Lakes <br />for project applications that are located in or adjacent to the City. The projects are as <br />follows: <br />CSAH 14 Pedestrian Trail Underpass. Anoka County is proposing to reconstruct CSAH <br />• 14 (Main Street) between I -35W and I -35E, in 2007. As part of the project the County is <br />proposing to construct a pedestrian /bicycle underpass adjacent to the Rice Creek <br />Bridge to provide safe access across CSAH 14. The underpass will connect the <br />proposed trail along the south side of CSAH 14 to the boat ramp and fishing pier <br />adjacent to the dam. <br />Rice Creek North Chain of Lakes Regional Trail Extension. Anoka County Park <br />Department is proposing to construct a pedestrian /bicycle trail through the regional <br />park, from County Road J, through Chomonix Golf Course and up to the Civic Complex <br />and Legacy at Woods Edge. <br />CSAH 14/I -35E Interchange. Anoka County is requesting federal dollars for the <br />reconstruction of the CSAH 14 (Main Street) /I -35E Interchange. The County and City <br />have previously received federal appropriations for preliminary design of the <br />interchange. Additionally, the Federal Transportation Bill currently being discussed in <br />the U.S. Senate includes an additional $1,000,000 appropriation for final design. <br />City of Centerville CSAH 14 Enhancements The City of Centerville is requesting federal <br />transportation enhancement dollars to assist with aesthetic and pedestrian /bicycle <br />improvements through the downtown core as part of the CSAH 14 project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />• All of the above mentioned projects will provide benefits to Lino Lakes and the <br />
