Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 12, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 — 195, Ordering Improvements and Preparation of <br />Plans and Specifications, Lois Lane Utility Extension <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The residents along Lois Lane petitioned for the extension of sanitary sewer and water <br />along Lois Lane. A feasibility study for this proposed project was prepared by TKDA <br />and received at the July 25th, 2005 City Council Meeting. This study revealed a total <br />project cost of $395,762.50. The project will be 100% assessed to the benefiting <br />properties. <br />It was decided at the November 22, 2005 City Council Work Session to defer all future <br />lot assessments. Therefore, the project will be funded partially by special assessments, <br />and all deferred lot assessments will be funded by the Trunk Area and Unit Fund. <br />When the future lots are created, they will be assessed at that time. <br />The schedule for this project is as follows: <br />Authorize Plans and Specifications <br />Approve Plans /Specifications and Authorize Ad for Bids <br />Call for Hearing and Declare Cost to be Assessed <br />Hold Hearing and Award Contract <br />Construction Begins <br />December 12, 2005 <br />March, 2006 <br />April, 2006 <br />May, 2006 <br />June, 2006 <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 05 — 195 Ordering Improvements and Preparation of <br />Plans and Specifications for the Lois Lane Utility Extension. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution No. 05 — 195. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 05 — 195 be adopted. <br />• <br />
